Why Kiyone is the BEST girl for Tenchi

11 05 2008

Ok, that’s it. Someone I know personally has made me slightly angry by even suggesting that Mihoshi is the best girl for Tenchi. It has been a while since I watched the Universe series, but for the sake of this argument I booted up episode six because that is the most Kiyone centered and my personal favorite. I will try and recall the best reasons I had read back in the day promoting Tenchi x Kiyone. I must now rant about this and write out the age old reasons why Kiyone is superior.

Very sexy

Kiyone obviously has the best body out of all the Tenchi girls. Just look at that body. She has the most beautiful hair out of them all too. It’s long, straight and a dark shiny green matched with that orange headband is a great match. Kiyone is 23 and Tenchi is 17. Sure there is an age gap but Tenchi is pretty mature for his age being the next Juraian king and all. Also, I’m pretty sure every guy at that age fantasizes about having a relationship with an older woman with the desire of “learning” a few things. Kiyone is also the only female that looks most like Tenchi’s mother if that… adds any weight to the argument.

Kiyone might not have any special abilities to stay young forever or anything of the sort in general like Ryoko and Ayeka. She’ll eventually grow older, but I think Tenchi would be the kind of guy that would like to grow old with the one he loves and he would probably never remarry or anything like the other Jurai rulers. Also, Tenchi seems like he wants to live a normal life so why not get a normal wife who just happens to be an intergalactic police officer.

Kiyone has the most stable freaking personality of all the girls a side from Sasami who isn’t a part of this debate because Tenchi isn’t a pedo. Ryoko is a crazed freeloading psycho aggressive man woman, Ayeka is a spoiled bitch, Washu is a crazed mad scientist that would rather have Tenchi as a test subject and Mihoshi is a stupid ditz. Kiyone is the most normal character who is more concerned about normal things like paying the bills and doing her job. When she isn’t around Mihoshi who is causing her the most trouble, Kiyone is a pretty good natured young woman. She also NEVER causes trouble for Tenchi AT ALL.

We all freaking know that Kiyone secretly loves Tenchi but is obviously too shy or doesn’t want to get between the fighting of Ryoko and Ayeka so she just stays quiet. Hell, I would too if my competition was a space pirate and a princess.

Kiyone definitely doesn’t get enough love and before I found my niche of favorite bishoujo characters she was one of the first that I fell in love with with 13 years ago.

YAY KIYONE!

Tenchi Muyo movies revisited - You know it, they got progressively worse

11 05 2008

Wow, I have no idea how Japanese otaku can do nothing but like leech off their parents and watch anime. I’ve done nothing but watch anime for the past 5 days (and get horribly drunk, but that’s on teh personal blog) I’ve been home and I’m horribly burned out. I am seriously done watching anime for a while now, but not without one last entry for now. I just got done watching all three Tenchi movies in order and you know, they got worse as they went on…

If Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger are what bring me back to the “good old days” of RPGs then Tenchi Muyo in Love is like that for me with anime. I mark the beginning of my dark path down the anime road with this movie which I seen one day in 1996 on the Sci Fi channel. They used to air anime on Saturday mornings for those that never knew or weren’t born yet.

Tenchi Muyo in Love isn’t a ZOMG MUST SEE but it brings back a lot of sentimental memories for me, and holds a special place in my heart as my first anime. This was my first time watching all three movies in Japanese and it sure was a lot different. Ayeka’s Japanese voice just doesn’t fit her at all, but neither does the English one. Megumi Hayashibara played the voice of Achika, Tenchi’s mom, and that was pretty cool. Even after all these years that final battle with Kain is awesome. I was expecting Alchemy of Love, the end song, to be sung in Japanese but oddly it wasn’t. Hm.

The second Tenchi movie is my favorite of the 3 just because it feels more like Tenchi. It has a good mix of drama, comedy and action. It just has that Tenchi atmosphere you’d be familiar with in the OAVs and TV series but just don’t watch Tenchi in Tokyo. I love the bright colored animation because I have ADD (not really) and I need bright colors to keep me interested.

The third movie which I actually hadn’t seen before was the worst. It didn’t even feel like Tenchi. It’s like they took the Tenchi characters and put them into something totally unrelated. The movie is pretty much drama/serious throughout the entire thing. This is fine because the first movie was pretty serious throughout but it’s just this third movie doesn’t feel like something Tenchi related. It’s an interesting experiment I guess. It’s like one big what if. What if Tenchi just settled down with a girl. How would the other girls react and what not. I think it’s pretty much hinted that Tenchi chooses Ryoko at the end of this.

Still, I DON’T WANT because everyone knows Kiyone is superior and if you’re into reading shitty fanfics. I would suggest reading the Mugen Tenchi Muyo fics. I was really into those back in the day. They present an alternate timeline where what if Tenchi and Kiyone developed a relationship. Sure it gets a little bogus but it’s a fanfic.

Maybe I should watch Tenchi in Tokyo some time. I seem to have a thing for shitty anime as of late.

Fushigi Yuugi Eikoden - You get this when you animate a bad fanfic

11 05 2008

Ok, I’m not the biggest Yuu Watase fan, but I kinda liked Fushigi Yuugi. Pretty fun for 26 episodes and then gets kinda shitty after that but a pretty decent show overall. Hey, it was one of my first gateway anime so maybe I’m just being easy on it. :/ Anyway, the 2 OAVs made after that were pretty bogus, but I took it. I didn’t quite understand how, what and why everything was going on but I took it.

Fast forward 13 years later and I just can’t take this Eikoden OAV the same way I was able to for the first two. This thing is just horrible, and I’m not sure why for the past five days I’ve been torturing myself with mediocre OAVs and Tsubasa Chronicle. I must love pain…

The first thing wrong with it is the heroine is just plain unlikable. She is a total bitch that definitely needs a punch to the face. She’s just an emo bitch that is probably feeling the way she is due to her period. I don’t care if they wanted to make her a character that people could relate to. How can I relate to her anyway? She’s a freaking jaded bitch. Her problem is she’s in love with Taka (Tamahome’s persona in the real world) but can’t have him because he loves and is married to Miaka. Honestly get over it, girl.

You’d think it would be interesting to see the reincarnated Suzaku Seven, but it really isn’t. I knew right away this was gonna be shit when Chiriko was talking perfectly but in the form of a baby. A baby talking? Haha oh wow. ::face palm:: Mostly everyone else is a bunch of kids…

If there is ANYTHING at all that is good to say about this is the animation. It’s actually not THAT bad. Definitely better than the animation of the early Fushigi Yuugi series and some of the CG that is used in some instances isn’t overly horrible. Also, Yui just seems to get hotter with each OAV.

Eikoden really doesn’t add anything to the Fushigi Yuugi story. It’s the same old plot where something or someone is trying to break up the relationship between Taka and Miaka like we haven’t seen that before amirite? Even if you’re a diehard fan of the series, I don’t think you’d enjoy Eikoden either. Avoid it like the plague. Eikoden was produced in 2001. So, that’s five years after the run of the TV series and three years after the 2nd OAV. In my opinion, the series has really stayed alive too long by that point.

Yes, not even you can save Tsubasa Chronicle S2, Kero-chan

10 05 2008

Only seven more episode to go, and I just can’t move onto anything else yet. I’m the type of person that likes to finish things one and a time with very little watching of multiple series at once unless it is just airing. Watching multiple shows at once just makes me feel very overwhelmed.

Anyway, I thought Da Capo S.S was painful. Tsubasa Chronicles S2 is even worse, and to be honest I can’t even freaking remember why they’re on this journey to begin with other than Shaoran is now feather captor Shaoran.

Episode 18 had Kero-chan in it with Aya Hisakawa once again doing the voice. Eh, it was pretty fun, and now I can see where the budget went. Still just one episode of Kero-chan with his original voice isn’t going to win me over. This show is still VERY boring. Now, I wonder what a remake of Cardcaptor Sakura would be like by Bee Train? ::shudder::

Also, what is the deal with them returning to worlds they’ve already been in like 20 episodes ago? I can’t even remember what happened in the previous world they were just in let alone one from season one which I watched about 2 years ago.

And, just now I realized that Aya Hisakawa also does the voice of Tomoko Honda in True Love Story. I had no idea because she wasn’t speaking Osakaben. Oh shiiit Aya Hisakawa is pretty damn talented if I didn’t even notice.

Been watching some horrible 90s OAVs

10 05 2008

So for whatever reason it seemed like the 90s had a lot more direct to video releases than this current generation or maybe I just don’t notice. I don’t know, but whatever the case there were a ton of quirky releases back in the day.

So I booted up my collection of Animerica issues which go back as far as August 1998 and l searched for some stuff to watch that looked moderatly okay or the characters looked moe enough.

Elf Princess Rane 1995-1996

I don’t know why they translated the title as such when 妖精 means fairy and her name is Ren and not Rane. This was a pretty weird watch, and to be honest I have no idea what was going on in the background. It appeared to me the fire department was at war with a company that makes resorts and amusement park rides?

Anyway, you have this weird guy named Go who is a ruins explorer otaku who meets a fairy. Go thinks this fairy will lead him to treasure and that’s basically it. Quirky antics ensue for 2 episodes. There were these two characters that were speaking gibberish all the time. I don’t know if it was supposed to be funny. Also there was this guy that has some wicked hair that could only rival Cloud’s.

I wonder how much hair gel this guy uses?

There was also a glasses girl. I so miss glasses girls in anime. They’re so rare nowadays. She’s voiced by Satomi Koorogi. It was pretty interesting to hear her voice outside from her Asahi Sakurai role from Comic Party.

The 2 episodes are mostly just comedy and I guess they had a third episode planned seeing from the previews. I suppose sales were so shitty they couldn’t make the third.

Galaxy Fraulein Yuna 1995

Hm. This was a kinda cute to watch although not what I had in mind. I was expecting girls in skimpy leotard like gundam gear kicking ass, but that really wasn’t the case. This was a comedy as well with like a second of fighting in both episodes. Not much in terms of character development but I’ve heard these are based on a video game series so it’s forgivable.

Chisa Yokoyama does an excellent job as the main character, Yuna. Yuna is kinda perverted too it appears. Perverted like Konata, I guess. Yuna fantasizes that this new girl likes her, and then there is this other time where she mentions bondage. Kinda interesting lol. There is also a girl (robot?) who eats a lot and says ~desu at the end of mostly everything she says. So, that ~desu thing has been around a lot longer than I thought. Satomi Koorogi also plays a lead role in this as well as the character, Saline.

This was a better watch but still nothing great. I kinda wanna watch the sequel but I can’t seem to find it anywhere…

Hyper Doll 1995

Another show with female characters in skimpy outfits kicking alien ass. This was actually better out of the three I’m talking about. Although, I was pretty drunk when I watched it so it might have appeared better than it was. Hm. Anyway, it was kinda neat that this show had that two high school girl superheros but could care less about saving shit thing going on. Pretty typical fair but no real conclusive ending since it’s based on a manga. This also has a glasses girl as well who is a friend to the heroines and I think likes the loser male character that knows the heroines real identities.

A drunken glasses girl? Raep tiem.

Just a few general comments to wrap this up. Although, all three of these weren’t anything fantastic it’s like the creators knew as well. Especially with Hyper Doll and Elf Princess Rane which occasionally poked fun at themselves. Also, I’m not gonna lie. I love the 90s animation and nude breasts with nipples which you never see anymore either.

Starting summer vacation off right with Cowboy Bebop

8 05 2008

Well, I have a lot of shows in mind to watch this summer and I’m sure a lot of them are going to be shit to mediocre, but hey that’s the path I’ve chosen because I want to be an anime expert.

Anyway, I’m sure everyone has seen Cowboy Bebop except for me. Instead of saying why I love it now, I’ll explain why I’ve just kind of avoided it for so long. First I never really watched it because I wasn’t interested in it. The time it was released I still was Internet less so I didn’t really know about for a while. Then when it started showing on Cartoon Network I still didn’t watch it since it didn’t look like something I’d watch. I was still kind of watching a certain niche genre of shows at that time.

I thought, perhaps I’m better than the hype. Hype is rubbish most of the time. You see it even today with shows like Haruhi, and Lucky Star. They’re shit and don’t live up to the hype. From the episodes I’ve watched of Cowboy Bebop it appears to live up to its hype so I hope it continues to be awesome and not fall flat on its face by the end like Gurren Lagann. Another show of recent date I believe lives up to its hype although maybe a little problems here and there towards the end.

Lastly, Cowboy Bebop today is more or less mainstream and more of a gateway anime. I’m already into anime so I figured there would be no need for me to watch it. Course, all this was my thinking years ago and I think differently now about anime.

Tsubasa Chronicle S2 11 - Yeah chibis!

7 05 2008

Hmm. This was actually one of the better episodes that actually got me interested mainly because the characters were chibi for a good portion of the episode. Funny antics ensued as Mokona used his drawing skills to get the gang out of a drawing or something.

Episode 12 looks like it goes back to boring again.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The thing with this show is it’s the same damn thing every episode. They get to the new world. Fay says something gay. Kurogane yells at him or Makona. Shaoran is like, “Hime are you okay.” Sakura is like, “Yes.” or Shaoran blames himself for whatever happens that they get caught up in or whatever.

SUDDENLY SOMETHING BORING HAPPENS

Shaoran and company get caught up in whatever it is that is going on. They find out it deals with one of Sakura’s feather.

Rinse and repeat. Is the manga honestly this boring too? CLAMP used to be so awesome back in the day.

Fap first and think later

6 05 2008

This is an addition to an entry I had posted somewhere else on Saturday, May 03, 2008 with the title “Odd Feelings”. I apologize if this entry is a little more sober, serious and mature than what I normally seem to write. I honestly was unsure if this entry was more anime or more personal blog. I opted for anime since for now I find myself more grounded on the fantasy side.

Now, some of you might be wondering what is with my sudden interest in traps, and as much as you might think I’m trolling I think I honestly feel the way I feel. I’ve decided to convert to Kurogane’s way of thinking to try and ease this uneasiness. Although, I kind of want everyone to know too oddly enough. If I could without looking strange, I’d shout outside my window this instant saying, “I like traps!” I’ve come to the point that I’m cherishing this feeling much like the time I became a Yukarin Fanboy.

I honestly blame anime, and as much as real traps are such an eyesore (READ: ugly) anime ones can be hot. Now, I can see why female anime fans like yaoi because it is hot. Well, at least when one of them is dressed like a female.

Um, for the first time in my life I am reevaluating my sexual orientation. It’s really weird, but I’ve been finding myself liking traps. Like REALLY liking traps. Just something about guys dressed as women is hot? I’ll save you the details because I find myself a little embarrassed about it myself. Although, rest assured it’s not real, and just drawn pictures of which I am interested in. Although, it is a little strange regardless because it’s guys and I’m a guy. Does this make me homosexual? Who knows it could move to real stuff eventually… I’m juggling in my mind about what ifs and relationships because I’m now kind of open to the idea now where before I was kind of indifferent.

It’s not like I woke up this morning and was like I think I’m homosexual today. I was kinda hung over and was woken up at 5am due to some loud partying from the dorm across from me. So, I just decided to browse 7chan. Clicked on a trap thread and I’m like, “Oh wow this is pretty hot.” followed by “Wait a minute… This seems wrong.” But I still went with it looking at the various links and offered doujins. I also kind of blame Moyashimon because Kei is damn hot and makes me a little jealous of Tadayasu to be around him. Ah, what am I saying! /(>_<)\

I kind of find myself going into that love is love mindset. Who cares what gender you are as long as you love each other? DAMN YOU CLAMP!

Like fantasy is fantasy and reality is reality and I consider everything with a .jpg at the end just a part of fantasy and I make sure to NEVER have the TWO cross EVER AGAIN. Also, real traps are ugly. Not like I’ve… Seen any images mind you!! At least drawn it looks moe.

On the other hand, I’m probably just blowing this out of proportion and it was bound to happen since it kinda stems off from the futanari genre. Weird how everything is connected like that if you’ve ever seen that weird graph floating around.

Ugh, I am such a walking wreck of messed up fetishes. Don’t even get me started. I partly blame anime for most of them. Glasses, doll joints, futanari, and now traps! Just to list a few.

Still, what a troublesome feeling that needs to be sorted out.

Code Geass R2 05 - Another filler episode but…

4 05 2008

Haha wow nice end is niiiiice. Suzaku is such a sneaky bastard.

Code Geass breaking the fourth wall.

Moyashimon 11 - An excuse to talk about traps more

4 05 2008

HOT

I CAME

Watching this show definitely came at a weird time because of my new awakened love for traps. I had no idea there was a trap in this show. Definitely not enough focus on trap Kei. Also, for someone that was just kissed by his best friend Tadayasu sure took that calmly. Also, I think that serious talk Tadayasu and Kei were having in the last episode was kinda hard to understand.

Might have been a shoddy translation on the fansubbers part or also it might have been the script writers trying to avoid stuff but since when has anime never been controversial? Although, I guess this was more of a comedy show so I suppose it was a little stupid of me to think there would be some serious drama involved with Kei. I wonder where the manga goes with this? I believe it is still ongoing? Now, I kinda wanna watch more shows with cross dressing hot male characters now. Ah! What am I saying…

Moyashimon was an all around interesting watch. Really neat show that was very reminiscent of Genshiken + Honey and Clover with a mix of education and agriculture. The Spring Festival episodes and the last two episodes are probably my favorites over all. Definitely wins points for being more along the lines of original content too. Anime needs more shows with a college setting! I’d watch more of this show if they’d ever make more.

The way I’m feeling lately. I don’t think I would mind being in that position too much.
