Sometimes you just need to be weeaboo for a day
14 03 2007So, I’ve been having a hard time getting to sleep lately. I blame the recent time change and perhaps my constant coffee drinking habits. In anycase, not being able to sleep has made me tired in the mornings and extremely moody and irate.
To keep myself busy and to avoid studying, I marathoned a playthrough of Tokimeki Memorial 2. Ok. Ok. Tokimemo 2 is not old but it’s old enough. It’s about 8 years old, and I bought my copy in 2003 ~ 2004. It’s still fun no matter how many times I’ve played it. This time I decided to go for Akane’s Best Ending since I only half assed her story the first time since I was too lazy to go through the childhood events and yadda, yadda, yadda. It was really fun and entertaining. I think I overestimated the battles againest Akane’s brother and his gang. My strength stats, Chrisma, and my physical condition were extremely high. My school stats sucked much though I ended up getting into a third rate college with ease whatever that’s worth. I need to play through Kotoko’s story again and get all her events. Maybe aim for a first rate college.
The highlights of my playthrough was the battle with Part Time Banchou. That was hilarious. She is using a yoyo on you and it does nothing, and then she just walks away from the battle. Realizing that Norio Wakamoto does Shou Banchou’s voice was awesome. Onsokumaru in MY Tokimemo 2? I ended up having to fight Takumi over Akane. The first time I ever won that. I guess that was payback for the time he ruined me from getting Maho’s ending that one time long ago. The relationship between Akane and her brother was enjoyable. China Dress + Akane = still fucking WIN.
I never see any weird pairs though with Jun and Takumi. All the time Jun either goes for Kotoko or no one at all. Takumi I’ve seen him with Miho, Miyuki (weird pair imo), Kaedeko (I think). I know one of them was with Akane one time. I’ve never seen any of them paired with Mei, Kaori, Kasumi, Homura or Hikari.
Not a highlight, but my hatred for Hikari was revived. I’m not sure how Dark Mirage can like Hikari. Hikari is a hell spawned bitch from hell. No matter what the player does Hikari will ultimately end up at smile phase by the end of the game. This is a problem because she’ll produce the most fucking bombs the entire game. Not to mention this’ll set off Kotoko sometimes too. Some other girls were at smile phase but didn’t give me as much trouble as Hikari ALWAYS DOES. Oh god, and it was so fucking hilarious because towards the end she would ask me if I’d walk her home, and the tone of her voice sounds like she is so depressed and going to cry.
Some highlights about Akane: delicious eyebrows. Her character is not very cliche, I think. She’s the typical homemaker type, but has the strength of a bear as seen by punching her brother with ease through a wall, and breaking the player’s bones when she hugs him at the end. Though it’s a shame that since her has work it’s a little harder to date her early in the game. I still can never get over Takumi’s mention about her bust when he explains who she is. Her dress attire is my 2nd favorite. First being Kaedeko and third being Miho. Though, Kasumi has the best swim suit, imo. Akane blushes easily and that’s very cute. Though, she blinks a lot in tokimeki phase. So much it’s laughable.
Though, I wonder how weird it must have looked if someone were observing me. A 20 year old playing a game about dating high school girls. Talking about how cute this and that is. Just absorbing everything in and having a fun time. I must have really looked sad, lol. I don’t think I’ll playthrough it again for awhile, but it was really fun while it lasted though and I think that’s what is important.
