6. Miyazaki Nodoka
There seems to be a constant theme going on here. Short and petite high school females with short hair with a shy personality. Though, Nodoka-chan is a little more than that, I think, as seen throughout the series. She’s more like a Shinobu version 2. Nodoka is extremely cute and I really liked her from the start of Negima since the time she fell on top of Negi-sensei in volume 1. The bangs over her eyes to emphasize her shy personality was a good move on Akamatsu-sensei’s part, and it’s been awesome to see just how she’s opened up since the start.
The fact she’s really smart and likes to read is a very moe moe point. I can’t remember if she wears glasses in the manga but I think she does sometimes in the anime? That’s really cute too. Mamiko Noto also does a great job doing the voice for Nodoka in the anime.
Nodoka had a lot of nice development in the start of the series, and she was one of the first girls Negi makes a Pacio with. She’s often seen dressed like a White Mage of Final Fantasy fame in many of the battle like group shots. Ugh, a lot like Shinobu I don’t remember a lot of scenes with Nodoka in them because a lot of those were in the earlier volumes and I haven’t read those since about 2004. Haha…
Nodoka is like a version 2 of Shinobu because Nodoka actually doesn’t wait till forever to confess her love for Negi-sensei. So, there is already that romance element building between Nodoka and Negi-sensei. Ah, shy young love. Though, I really doubt that Nodoka will end up with Negi in the end, but who knows because there hasn’t been much development in the love department.
About characters like Nodoka, I don’t really get this at all. If a majority of fans rate a certain character their favorite why not just pick that character? I will never understand this about Japanese manga and anime. The shy or reserved girl usually more often than not is the fan favorite, but in the course of the story it is always the more courageous, outgoing, and/or tsundere female that ends up with the male protagonist.
As much as I want Nodoka to be happy and get with Negi there is another character I like a whole lot more who I am cheering on to get with Negi.
