Bamboo Blade ruined by its last two episodes

Bamboo Blade has been a really fun series. Perhaps something I wouldn’t normally watch on my own because it’s a sports anime but I saw images from the show and what not so I decided to give it a try and it actually ended up to being worth while. Although, maybe not as awesome as I hoped it was an interesting ride.

Sure, some people criticize the show because the characters are really flat and they are, but that’s okay because it didn’t bring the show down in the slightest. I liked how they all played off one another and each episode never really failed at giving me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. The plot was some what jumpy and lacking but I’ll forgive it because it was an overall fun show. I liked the Kendo scenes and I liked the slice of life aspect of the show. The characters were quirky and energetic which made watching the show fun.

I wish I could remember the actual dialogue of the scene in Martian Successor Nadesico (yeah, I’m going there!) where Akito is rewatching Gekiganger V, and he’s close to the last episode or something like that. He comments on how depressing or sad it is to watch a final episode of an anime because it can affect your total reaction to a show or something along these lines. In these kinds of cases, like with the final 2 episodes of Bamboo Blade, I can’t help but remember that scene.

Watching the final two episodes to Bamboo Blade was like a huge, “NOOOOOOOOOOO!!” from me while I was watching because I felt betrayed. I enjoyed the previous 24 episodes but these last two episodes just didn’t feel very Bamboo Blade ish. I dunno. To me, they felt rushed and just overall strange. I don’t know if it’s because the manga is ongoing and they didn’t have enough material to draw on or what. I also hate it when a show introduces new characters in the final episode to a show. I just hate that.

It’s strange how two episodes can just change your opinion of an entire series. Before watching these two episodes I was really hyped up for wanting a second season but now I feel like eh, it’d be okay. I mean, I’d watch it if a second season were announced but I’m not hyped up for one anymore.

voodoomage@ Yeah, I probably am. I dunno I just didn’t like these two episodes as much as the entire series up to this point.

I’m still don’t understand how one or two episodes entirely ruin the feelings people had for the show in the first place. :/

TheBigN@ I’ve been debating if I should rewatch these two last episodes because to be honest I was real depressed when I watched them. It was like the day after I watched 5 Centimeters Per Second so everything seemed kinda stupid to me.

Probably the reason you didn’t like them is that it really isn’t bamboo blade by the original author. I mean, the manga is ongoing and the last scene was a sign for the people reading it, to tell them they don’t plan to miss all the new story (I can tell because i read the last volume). Actually, the anime deviates from the manga since ep 20 if i’m not mistaken (after they finish the tournament with the konishi part), so all the sasaki rin stuff was made to be able to make a closure to the series.
Personally, I enjoyed those final episodes except for the Yoshikawa-sensei thing which I thought was BS.

Tanaka@ Yeah that Yoshikawa-sensei thing was so BS.
