After watching True Tears there is still that bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps because I’ve been watching a lot of shows lately that were moderate to very good and then to stumble upon something I didn’t really like leaves a bad aftertaste. Although, I suppose for every bad show I watch there is someone out there that thinks it’s a masterpiece.
I’m sure it’s safe to say though that the 2,180 people that think Haruhi is a masterpiece on ANN have no freaking clue what a masterpiece show is and probably should reevaluate their rating system. Although, I think ANN has a pretty screwed up top 10 to begin with. How does a show like Haruhi get so many that think it’s a masterpiece? It was a good show but take away episode 0 and the GOD KNOWS episode and it’s so average, I would think. I want to try this over the summer plus it gives me a second chance to maybe see if my assumptions about Haruhi are right or wrong. I admit I am blinded due to the fanbase that made such a big deal over it. Shitty preachy fanbases CAN ruin opinions of shows for others.
Anyway, this isn’t about Haruhi because I enjoyed that more or less. This is about shows I’ve disliked. It’s always tough for me to rate a show I didn’t like more than one I did like. It always makes me reconsider what I think is bad. Should I rate a show lower because I found it boring or should I rate it average because a lot of other people liked it but only I didn’t? Are things I think about. Not all bad shows are created equal. They may fall under the same category, but for different reasons. I’m going to try and define what I think is a bad show because it always seems to come up when people see my anime list.
First, animation is never a factor for me. If I mention the animation in a bad light. I’m probably trolling and scrambling for things to complain about. I rarely ever comment about animation when I watch a show because to me, I think decent animation quality should be a given. Also, a show could have the worst animation ever and be awesome, and a show could have the best animation ever and be shit. So, I never consider animation when rating. It’s never a factor for me unless it is so bad like the Yoakena anime. That is bad, and it’s like they never tried.
true tears (TV) So-so
Myself ; Yourself (TV) So-so
Uta∽Kata (TV) So-so
Rumbling Hearts (TV) So-so
All of these shows have different plots but one theme is similar and they have drama. A lot of it. Crying girls, emo guys who cut themselves, people betraying each other, fighting, screaming, bitch fighting, etc. I just cannot like these shows. I think it’s because I like having comedy in my anime as well as serious moments, but not just comedy but enjoyable characters as well. What is the point of drama when I cannot like the characters and give a damn about what is going onto them?
Honey and Clover has been the best show I’ve seen up to now that has had the greatest mix of serious and humor. The characters are also very well developed and by the end you feel like you too got to know them and were right by them as a friend.
.hack//SIGN (TV) Weak
Kakyuusei 2 (TV) Weak
Koi Kaze (TV) Weak
Girl’s High (TV) Weak
Kanon (TV 1/2002) So-so
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World (TV) So-so
Strawberry Eggs (TV) So-so
The Melody of Oblivion (TV) So-so
Detective Loki (TV) Bad
Shadow Star Narutaru (TV) Awful
Tsukihime, Lunar Legend (TV) So-so
Chrono Crusade (TV) Bad
Serial Experiments Lain (TV) So-so
Kasimasi – Girl Meets Girl (TV) Weak
Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na -Crescent Love- (TV) Not really good
Wedding Peach (TV) Weak
D.C.S.S. ~Da Capo Second Season~ (TV) So-so
All of these shows were just boring. They failed to keep my attention. Stuff was going on but it just didn’t pull me in. More or less I was tapping my foot waiting for each episode to be over. I don’t know why True Tears isn’t here because it was pretty much the same way I felt when I watched .hack//SIGN. Also, Narutaru deserves mention for being the absolute worst show I’ve seen, but it is a horribly butchered version of the manga. Still, the absolute worst I’ve seen. Characters come and go with no explanation. Boring characters. An annoying main character! Grrr…
FLCL (OAV) So-so
Lucky Star (TV) So-so
Last Exile (TV) So-so
These 3 seem to come up a few times on why they have that rating. FLCL wasn’t as bad as I made it out too be. I just wasn’t very drawn into it. It had some good points that are nice, but overall just not my bag. I can see why people would like it. It’s probably one of those shows you’re either going to like it or not like it. Maybe if I saw it around the time it was first brought out my opinion might have been different? Then again, if it’s as good people said it was you’d think you’d enjoy it no matter what time it’s watched in.
Last Exile was a really good show up until the second half. I was really into the world and the whole racing thing Lavie and Claus were doing. Then it just kinda got boring, political, and I couldn’t seem to follow just what the hell was going on. The ending seemed kinda pulled out of their ass like what’s with that one guy coming back to life. o_O? Although, I honestly miss the days when Gonzo produced shows like this, Gatekeepers, Vandread, Full Metal Panic and Speed Grapher.
Lucky Star is shit. Why do people eat this stuff up? Am I just not as “hardcore” as I think I am since I don’t like this show and how “Japanese” it is? It had its moments where I chuckled or went, “Hmm, yeah I know what you mean.” But those moments aren’t very memorable and are more like an of the moment kind of thing. I can’t even remember anything about the show except the first episode with the food thing and the ending because it just ends abruptly. Lucky Star failed to have any memorable jokes or topics.
I just wanted to clear up some series there might have been confusion over. I feel real guilty when rating a show a low rating because I know my opinion isn’t right and sometimes in such a time where anime is saturated with mediocre and fanservice it’s rough knowing when to be critical and when to give a show some slack. If anything, as a general rule I consider if the show did its job as a form of entertainment. If it did well it might get a better score if not it might get a lower score. Also, I’m no critic even though I’d like to think so since I’ve been watching anime so long. Meh.
tl;dr

Last Exile’s second half was boring?! The story only gets more interesting with each episode, IMO.

“How does a show like Haruhi get so many that think it’s a masterpiece?”
*nod, nod*
“Lucky Star is shit. Am I just not as “hardcore” as I think I am since I don’t like this show”
Its not about hardcore, you’re just not pedo enough. :P

double@ Hmm… Maybe I’ll give it a rewatch but I rarely do so. I remember not being all that thrilled with the show in the second half.
Karry@ I suppose I should work on that.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 9:20 am |
You don’t like FLCL and Lucky Star?
*stabs you*
“I know my opinion isn’t right”
Since when do opinions have to be right? Opinions are neither right nor wrong.

IcyStorm@ Because I created the Internet.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 9:42 am |
Oh and I thought that Lucky Star was Sucky Star.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 9:44 am |
You diss Last exile and bring up Gatekeepers as a good show? I’m at a loss for words.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 10:18 am |
Matte@ Don’t diss Gatekeepers. It was a fun show in its own right. But I think you failed to see that I said I wished Gonzo made more shows like Last Exile, Gatekeepers, and etc. So I was acknowledging Last Exile as a good show here.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:11 am |
I wouldn’t say these criticisms are that controversial.
It’s interesting that you mention ignoring animation quality and yet taking into account your interaction with the fan base. This may be one reason why it seems your opinions hold less weight, because animation quality is a fundamental quality in anime whereas your assumptions about the perceived acclaim of a series are not.
Also, I think you can fairly criticize the second half of Last Exile, especially if you liked the series for Lavie and Claus. Claus became significantly less nuanced and Lavie got pushed aside in the second half.

“true tears (TV) So-so

Wait… Myself; Yourself wasn’t a comedy? I was laughing almost the entire way through it…

THERE IS NO TSUKIHIME ANIMU.
Then again you’re talking about LUNAR LEGEND Tsukihime, which has no relation to Tsukihime even though both share similar themes and characters.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:39 am |
Kabitzin@ Well, I don’t consider animation because if you turn down a show judging it by the animation alone you might be missing out on some awesome stuff. Such shows I’ve found people are thrown off by the artwork are Higurashi, Now and Then Here and There.
Yeah, pretty much. I liked the whole racing thing and such of the first half the of the series with Lavie, Claus and Al. Just kinda lost it for me after that.
Fuyumi@ Eh, yeah it was kinda funny here and there. It was pretty boring here and there too.
drmchsr0@ OH RIGHT. WHATEVER WAS I THINKING?
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 12:21 pm |
True, you did but I simply can’t get over the fact you liked Gatekeepers since it’s the worst show I’ve ever seen, of the ones I finished. I also loved FLCL, Lucky Star, and Last Exile but atleast we can agree on Honey and Clover which basically is the greatest show ever in my opinion.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 12:49 pm |
Unfortunately, many of your opinions are not quite correct, lol. You (and I) have to be careful not to take our own gut reactions as gospel truth. Here are a few of my own combination gut reaction/analysis opinions: Myself;Yourself is one of the worst anime I’ve ever watched, despite a great performance from Koshimizu Ami; true tears was excellent, subtle and intriguing, although it did wander in late episodes; Suzumiya Haruhi was indeed a masterpiece, partly for the subtle, mature and humane humor that didn’t amuse some people (sense of humor is a very individual thing); Lucky Star was excellent, for the same reason — the references to other anime were an unimportant icing on an already delicious cake; Honey & Clover was a masterpiece, for the reasons you stated, and so were NANA and Simoun, for similar reasons.
I was happy to see you single out episode 00 and the concert episode of Suzumiya Haruhi: they were both conceived, scripted, and directed by Yamamoto Yutaka, the creator of the SHnY ED and the Lucky Star OP, and the man who was fired as director of Lucky Star after four episodes. Based on that work, I think he’s a brilliantly creative comic director.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 12:55 pm |
Wait, I thought that most people didn’t think that most of those shows were any good…
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 12:56 pm |
I guess what can be learned from this is to agree to disagree. Although, I wonder what makes a show generally bad or generally good then. Hmm…
hashihime@ Yeah, as much as I found Lucky Star boring and entertaining now and then. I think the first four episodes weren’t that bad… Not bad enough to get someone fired.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 1:05 pm |
Still I don’t get how people can say Lucky Star was good. It was okay. Nothing really awesome about it, and I’m still scratching my head about what makes it better than average. Same with Haruhi, it was alright and I enjoyed it but I don’t see how it was groundbreaking or new. I’ll definitely have to watch it over.
I think episode 0 and the GOD KNOWS are the most memorable episodes in the series. Take those out and it’s nothing new. Hell, those are the only episodes I remember.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 1:20 pm |
Yes Lucky Star’s on there. Atta Boy Atta Boy! :) I Knew it! As for why people felt Haruhi was a masterpiece, it had to do with relative comparison. There really wasn’t that much in the realm of competition when it comes to high exposure series that season. Once it got noticed that’s really all it took. As for Lucky Star, people were just goint through the motions after that and carrying the torch of hype. By the time Clannad rolled around said hype had worn off and it was judged on it’s on merits. As for why the director got fired, I’m willing to bet it was “creative differences” with the sponsor of Kadokawa. They wanted more of their franchises placed in there, but the director probably wanted to try an adaptation that featured more of the original Lucky Star’s witty and comical takes on life in Japan . (Read: Not specifically Otaku life)
Go ahead and say it though, most people who call themselves anime fans really don’t know how to judge a show fairly and with an even hand and only know extremes, it’s a sad and unfortunate truth. It’s either the worst show ever made or god’s gift to anime for like 75% or so of anime fans when you ask them what they think. As for preachy fanbases, I can’t even count the time they’ve soured my opinion on a show. They either make you believe it’s worth your time to watch it when it’s just a bunch of hype, or make you resist watching it because you don’t want to be thought of as a member of a hyperactive fanbase.
So you’re basically living my life with anime from 2006- late 2007. I could go on describing how else this article relates to my thoughts on anime, but I could be here a while, so it’s on a by request basis since I don’t want to be a preachy anime fan.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 2:27 pm |
“Shitty preachy fanbases CAN ruin opinions of shows for others.”
Well, the show is different from the fanbase, even though the latter spawned from the former. And I try not to let the fanbase have any say in how I feel about the show as I watch it or after I watched it. But in terms of whether or not it’s a show that I’d be interested in watching, I take that into my decision.
And when rating series, subjective always wins out over objective, but I do take objective into account for shows that I didn’t feel the same way that others did, as in “did the show do these things well”.
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 2:32 pm |
Bleh. Let me say that last statement again. When I rate series, “Did it work for me?” is the main question that I ask myself, and I that probably makes up the majority of what I decide to make it. And then I consider things like how well the show did things overall. I don’t believe myself to be a good judge of anime, but it doesn’t really matter to me. :P
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 2:45 pm |
TheBigN@ Yeah, same here. I usually just go with my gut feeling when it’s all over which kind go either way. Like I probably graded Bamboo Blade and FLCL poorly but oh well. That’s how I felt at the time.

Hello, tonberryking. A present from /a/, which I cannot take credit for. Enjoy:
A Love-Hate Relationship
Anime_expert barged into the building, melodramatically slumping into a chair in front of the computers next to tonberryking. In all honesty, it was a little over the top. All that was really missing was the back of his hand resting on his brow in a woe-is-me fashion. He sighed as the tripfiend stared mindlessly at the screens. Tonberryking let his eyes wander to the usually composed man that had now melted into the chair. “Does Anime_expert-kun need to talk about something?” The younger man asked quite forwardly, spinning his chair so he did not have to turn his head in order to see the man. Anime_expert was a clever boy, physically and mentally perfect in nearly every way.
“/a/non-tan is so overbearing and annoying these days. When she’s not busy worshipping me, he’s talking about really shitty anime I couldn’t force myself to give a damn about.” Anime_expert rolled his eyes. Usually he was much more composed than this.
“Is Anime_expert admitting he likes to be worshiped by /a/non-tan? This makes sense, considering that someone who is simple enough to consider himself an anime god would like acknowledgment and praise from at least one person.”
Anime_expert rolled his eyes. “You’re looking too far into it. I just mean she’s very annoying and childish. I’m a lonely guy, and I wish I had someone to turn to other than her.”
Tonberryking giggled. “There are times when two people of the same gender have sex or even relationships, Anime_expert-kun.” He hadn’t tried to make such an obvious display, so he immediately tried to cover it up. “Anyway, Anime_expert, you cannot assume my sec.” A tint of a smile hinted on his lips, but he was looking down so Anime_expert couldn’t see. He looked directly into Anime_expert in the eyes and said, “What proof do you have of me being male?”
Anime_expert only rolled his eyes. “Of course you’re a guy. Don’t play games with me. Everyone refers to you as a guy, you’re posted pictures of yourself on /a/ before to prove and I can clearly see right now that you have a beard.”
“My facial hair is actually fake. I just drew it on my face to make myself seem manlier.” Tonberryking wiped his face with the sleeve of this shirt, and lo and behold, his facial hair came clean off.
Anime_expert was beginning to get confused. Is he really a she? “Impossible.” Anime_expert retorted. “You don’t have breasts or the hips for it!” Anime_expert realized he was yelling and calmed down, looking at the younger man in anticipation for an answer.
“Perhaps you have never heard of androgyny. I am unaware how you would be aware of my more intimate features considering the apparel I wear. That is, of course, unless Anime_expert-kun peeked at me in the shower~”
Anime_expert was becoming flustered. He did not in any case peek at Tonberryking’s nude body. Not because the boy had told him not to; as he really didn’t seem to care. It was out of personal choice. “Now I’m curious,” he thought to himself. “I wish I had ‘accidentally’ seen his… her… genitals!” He felt ashamed for thinking something like that. He realized he hadn’t answered yet, which may seem like he wasn’t denying it. With a serious tone, he declared “No, I haven’t. So are you a girl or what?” He asked, looking up the person in question.
Tonberryking had returned back to his computer. “I never said I was, Anime_expert. I could me male, I could be female. I hardly see how it matters.” He glanced to the man sitting next to him. “I mean, it’s not like you would have any interest in me if I was indeed female.” His eyes moved back to the screens.
“Of course not!” Anime_expert burst out. “I’m tired, I’m going to go to bed. Goodnight, Tonberryking.” He waved goodbye and sulked out of the room. He wasn’t tired, and he knew he wouldn’t get to sleep for hours. He undressed into his boxers and slouched into his bed. It was strange. He couldn’t sleep recently except for a few hours a night.
Sighing, he reached under his boxers and idly played with himself. He wasn’t really horny, but it was something to do – and maybe an orgasm would help him sleep. He stroked lightly himself but it didn’t do much good. He became somewhat less flaccid, but that was about it. He had no porn, so he resorted to petting himself to thoughts of scandalous little lolis, but it didn’t work. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the sensations, imagining lips – lips he couldn’t see due to his eyes being closed even within his fantasies. They worked his way up and down his cock, the tongue licking lightly where his thumb went. A soft sigh broke the silence as he imagined someone else cupping his balls as he did that with his left hand. The blanket had made its way to his knees somehow, but he didn’t realize this immediately. He worked himself over for ten minutes before he finally went rigid, his balls spasming and glorious liquid spurting forth from him. As he let the orgasm take him, so did sleep. He opened his eyes for a moment – or he thought he did – as a dream began. He looked down at his cock, and instead of seeing his hands, he saw eyes looking up to him. “Tonberryking?” He mumbled as he turned onto his side and fell asleep, letting a different dream take him.
Anime_expert woke up early the next day. He didn’t remember seeing tonberryking’s eyes in his half-dream. While he showered, he just knew that he felt better. When he left his room it was five o’clock in the morning, and Tonberryking was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for him. Anime_expert froze. Now he remembered those eyes. With a wash of embarrassment, he remembered everything. He, of course, was half dreaming when it happened and he had not done it on purpose. And in all fairness, it’s not like he came to Tonberryking, it was after the orgasm had begun that he saw those eyes. A tint of pink washed over Anime_expert’s cheeks.
Anime_expert smiled and let out a small laugh, making the younger man look at him. “What do you find so funny, Anime_expert-kun?”
“Just thinking about things. Are you asexual?” He stopped laughing as he realized tonberryking was staring at him. “What, is it true?” A smirk hinted his lips.
Tonberryking was stuck. He really didn’t want to admit anything about himself that was so personal, but he could tell that if he didn’t, there would be many problems to be had between him and the stripfriend. “I assure you, Anime_expert, I have urges as anyone else. Perhaps even more.” A small blush, barely recognizable, came across his entire face as he turned back to his computers. Turning it around to his advantage, he typed quickly on his keyboard. “Why, are you feeling self conscious?”
“NO!” The older man gritted his teeth. “I assure you I have desires and fantasies.” He suddenly was deep in thought. If I was going to be attracted to anyone, who would it be? There was a long moment before Anime_expert did something unlikely and even a little uncalled for.
He lightly licked his left thumb and reached over, half standing, and wiped it against tonberryking’s upper cheek.
Silence commenced as Anime_expert and tonberryking stared at each other. Subconsciously tonberryking’s hand came up to where the saliva had traced and felt it delicately. His eyes didn’t leave anime_expert’s. Anime_expert, on the other hand, stared at where he had traced his wet finger. He realized he had mindlessly stuck that same thumb back to his lips and gently sucked on it. He suddenly flushed and stood up, about to leave the room. “I…” He turned on his heel and basically ran.
He ran to the first empty room he could find, a random room with a table with chairs around it, some conference room to be sure. He groaned in embarrassment, bringing his hand to his face. He stared at his thumb, it felt as if it had been softened by the touch of the cheek. Anime_expert shook his head and stood up abruptly, pacing. He was so confused. Why did I do that, why did I do that? WHY DID I DO THAT? He growled and slumped back into the chair. He realized then that this was turning him on, and became angry at himself, closing his legs in basic protest. “No, no, no… No way.” He whined. He became fidgety. Sighing, he unzipped his pants. Almost hesitant, he wrapped his hand around his cock. He was almost rough with how fast he beat himself, moaning into the table. Somewhere during it, he noticed his left thumb at hips lips, and licked it.
Tonberryking jumped in his seat, groaning in the silence. He, too, was thoroughly stroking himself, slower than Anime_expert but no less ambitiously as hee secretly watched the man in the other room. He groaned as Anime_expert began to thrust into his hand more than he moved his arm, his eyes closed and panting. What is he imagining? He panted loudly, imagining various throes of passion scenarios with Anime_expert. His pale, lanky body went very stiff in a certain fantasy where he was on his hands and knees and Anime_expert was pummeling into his anus, kissing his back and giving him a reach around. Tonberryking, however, did not lose control, catching most of his cum in his left hand. When he opened his eyes, however, he noticed that Anime_expert was no longer in the room.
Most of the day passed with nothing but silence between the two. Anime_expert couldn’t concentrate. “T-tonberryking. Are you g– , er, homosexual?” He finally asked, staring at him.
“No, Anime_expert-kun, can’t say I am. Why?” Suddenly, another pair of lips were on his own. His pale skin slightly flushed and his eyes flew open, but he in no way tried to stop it. He just stared as Anime_expert moved back into his chair. He didn’t blink for the longest time. He was sure a few minutes flew by. Eventually, his eyes closed slowly and opened. Then he resumed his staring, opening his mouth to speak but nothing coming out.
Anime_expert stared back nervously. He was watching for signs of repulsion or interest but nothing came. Almost growling, his head dived back at the tripfriend before Tonberryking could think and stole his mouth again, already open, and began to search it. He was standing, hunched over tonberryking. Anime_expert’s arm came around him and lifted him from the chair, forcing him to stand. Again, nothing. Anime_expert got the distinct feeling he was kissing someone who was unconscious. He stopped and backed away, realizing he was breathing hard. “Most likely, dumbass, because you didn’t breath throughout the entire ordeal,” he thought.
Tonberryking blinked, realizing what was going on. He decided to give away more information. “I’m bisexual. And by the way, I noticed you forgot to breathe.” He watched Anime_expert slightly flinch, as if he was being reminded of a horrible from his past. He stepped closer and hung his face in front of Anime_expert’s. “If I was a female, would you be freaking out this way?” Tonberryking was curious.
“It changes under circumstance, I suppose.” He tried to search Tonberryking’s eyes for some insight on what he was thinking, but failed to find anything but a black abyss. He found himself lost within those gloomy eyes for a moment before standing up, forgetting tonberryking was there somehow. Tonberryking broke the silence with a sigh, much like one you would hear from a teen after telling them to clean their room, his eyes shifting upwards for a brief period of time. Anime_expert jumped when he felt Tonberryking’s fingers across his cheek, under his ear, behind his neck, interlacing with his hair. Anime_expert’s face was brought halfway into a light kiss. No tongue was prodding Anime_expert’s lips, no nibbling, just a simple kiss. That kiss however, became a series of kisses of the same type. Regular, long lasting kisses until finally they were opening their mouths slightly. In turn, this led them to a singular ‘French’ kiss that lasted a few moments before they broke away, panting. Between it all, Tonberryking’s arms went over Anime_expert’s shoulders, one hand idly in his hair. Anime_expert’s arms wrapped around Tonberryking’s waist.
“Anime_expert-kun,” Tonberryking whispered in the tripfriend’s ear. “I think I’m in love with you.”
Anime_expert flushed beat-red, and shyly looked into Tonberryking’s eyes.
“I-I think,” he responded hesitantly, “That maybe… I love you too.”

PS: Lucky Star and FLCL are both great animes. You are entitled to your opinion, and as such I can’t tell you what to like. But just try and remember that your opinion means shit when the companies are selling to the target audience better than expected, okay?
Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 3:55 am |
@Anonymous: Yes because all that counts is how well something sells. Also you’re begging the question there by stating that only the people who like the shows opinions matter. You understand this right. You’re argument if I understand it:
Only the target audience who enjoys the shows opinion matters
Koji Oe does not enjoy Lucky Star and FLCL
Therefore Koji Oe’s opinion doesn’t matter
Pretty big assumption in the proposition itself, hence the fallacy of begging the question if my critical thinking course taught me the proper usage.
And obviously the target audience is going to receive the show well more or less, but that shouldn’t be assumed to be the only opinion that matters. If that were the case then everybody who didn’t like a products opinion wouldn’t mean anything even if the target audience was ten people and they all bought it, but 10,000 people didn’t like it and refused the purchase. That’s a pretty weak argument on top of a fallacious one.

Anonymous@ There is erotic stories with me an anime expert now? Oh shiii!

I mostly agree with you on the so-so factor for all the series you mention except for Serial Experiment Lain. However, the problem with anime viewing is that it often opens itself to interpretation. If you didn’t get the latent and blatant meaning of the series, it will be clear that you will not like it.
Lolz, I will think that most guys will not really like drama in general. It’s also very true that nothing works when you cannot feel for the characters. That is why I never got into NGE. I just wish for them to die. and die fast.
Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 10:31 am |
Impz@ Lain lost points because it was so freaking complex, and I just didn’t get any of the references so a lot of it went over my head.
Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 6:10 pm |
I’ve gained a lot of insight from the comments of this post (ironically not from the post itself, lol). Special thanks to Impz- now I understand why I never got into NGE- I too just could not feel for the characters, and although did not specifically think it, I probably also wanted the characters to just die.
lol Koji Oe please don’t take that personally since you like NGE
also was encouraged to override my original decision not to watch //Lain /etc. due to Koji Oe’s opinions, and those of other people. Perhaps the said people did not like it just because it was overly complex, that I will miraculously be able to understand it, and get most of the references…or perhaps….*nante ne*
