Dear Bryan,

Congratulations! IES is very pleased to inform you that your application to the IES Nagoya program has been reviewed by NanzanUniversity and that you have been accepted to the program! Your official acceptance from NanzanUniversity means that you have been removed from the IES provisional status.

Soon you will receive by mail a packet of admission materials from NanzanUniversity. This packet will be sent to you by Federal Express to your home address and should arrive by the end of this week. You will need to review the materials and return several forms to the IES Chicago office by May 30th, so please be prepared to submit the forms to IES Chicago within a few days of receiving them.

Not sure to really be happy or surprised or both since I practically reduced myself to, “Meh, I’m pretty much going to Japan, but I have no idea where.” But here I am crying so I must feel something deep down. Also kinda surprised because I remember being told that the enrollment for Nanzen in the fall is pretty competitive so I guess I did something right and got in. Now I really gotta study seriously!

Akihabara. Maid cafes. Game, book, anime and doujinshi stores. HERE I COME! HAHA I’M GOING TO JAPAN AND YOU’RE NOT!

I am just being nerdy on purpose and don’t actually feel excited for the things I mentioned above. Regardless, you’ve seen my room. I’m hiding my power level while I’m there. Anime? What’s that? Etc.

    Congratulations!

“Meh, I’m pretty much going to Japan, but I have no idea where.”
Isn’t Nagoya like, far away from Tokyo/Akihabara? But that’s perfectly fine, I bet where you’re going is far better. Regardless, I’ll bet you’ll be travelling in Akiba as if it’s your next door anime mecca.

Please do go to maid cafe for my sake. I didn’t.

    bluemist@ Thanks!

Well, I didn’t have any idea where I was going because they put us Nagoya applicants on provisional since the college in Nagoya had to review everyone’s applications. So, if I didn’t get into the college in Nagoya, I would end up in I think it’s Meikai in Tokyo. So it was either Nagoya or Tokyo where I’d end up.

Yeah, I’ve heard students have come back with better fluency than those who came back from the Tokyo programs. Although, the Tokyo programs offer internships while Nagoya’s doesn’t. So, I’m pretty satisfied with getting into this program since I want to work on my fluency.

I dunno if I’ll go to Akiba. I heard it’s pretty damn expensive to get to Tokyo. Well, we’ll see. I’m going for the year so I’m sure I’ll get adjusted and find confidence to enter a maid cafe.

    Gratz. Have fun!

Yea, gotta agree about getting to Tokyo being expensive, both time and money. It’s roughly a 2 hour ride via Shikansen costing around 8,000 yen for a 1 way trip. Maybe you can head over to Tokyo during your holidays.

Congratulations – just don’t blow all your money away in Akihabara or some Pachinko parlor.
