As a refresher for everyone I am leaving for Japan on the 28th. I will be staying in Nagoya, Japan and attending Nanzan University for the year. Well, today I got my housing info and my COE (Certification of Eligibility) which basically says I’m fine to go into Japan and stay for this amount of time. I’ve been waiting for it so I can NOW get my visa. Too bad it’s a Saturday and at this time because all the postal services are closed so I have to wait till Monday. The picture on my COE looks horrible. Oh well, this was from a few months ago and I was feeling pretty tired and what have you.
So, I was hoping to stay with a host family so I could experience Japanese culture and family life first hand but instead I’m stuck in the dorms. I’ve heard that getting a host family is pretty competitive so I guess it was just luck of the draw. I’m staying in the Nanzan Nagoya Koryu Kaikan. IES’s website says,”Nagoya Koryu Kaikan – Featuring private bedrooms with shared bathrooms and common spaces, each apartment is assigned one native japanese student from one of Nanzan’s graduate or undergraduate programs and three international students.” So this should be interesting. I just hope I get out more and can make some friends to do stuff. I pretty much just kept to myself in my dorm at college here and I don’t want that happening while I’m in Japan.
Honestly, expect this blog to turn into a Japan blog with hopefully a lot of photos (I’m buying a camera!). I probably won’t be watching any anime there since I won’t bring a laptop and I don’t want to watch anime in public, but I guess we’ll see. I don’t know if I’ll be able to upload photos onto the computers there from a camera so I can post them here. I guess I’ll have to wait and see. I really hope so but I’ve been told that the library computers there are kinda old and there is no Internet (as far as I know) in my dorm.
Only a few more weeks to go!
