Osu Kannon moar leik awesome

Please excuse if things kind of overlap. I really forget what I have been writing and mostly the things I have been sharing here are little bits and pieces of a page or so of written journal entries. So consider these cliffnotes, I suppose, and just check back later for what I really wrote those days. I probably will never get those written until I return home for the break just because I don:t want to be sitting here all day typing. Also if there is anything more you:re interesting in knowing about here that I am not writing about let me know.

So let:s see. The first day was a little hectic but I:m gradually getting used to life here. I think I might appear unhappy to the other students since I don:t talk much and they ask, genki?, which is like are you in good spirits kind of thing. So, I guess I must give that kind of impression. I should probably try and be more outgoing. I don:t know. It is kinda weird that I am not feeling much culture shock or homesick. There really isn:t much that I miss from home. Maybe like being able to drive a car or having my own computer for example but nothing really. I am very adaptable, I think. I mean as long as I have my basic needs set I:m fine.

It just bothers me that my family is worried about me or what not. Family really doesn:t mean much to me so missing them is like nothing to worry about. I try to exercise self reliance since really you yourself is all that you can depend on, but if the need arises I ask or tag along with others if we have the same kind of goal like going to the Showa ward. I didn:t know where it was but now I do and went there this morning by myself to finish the rest of the paper work that I needed to get done.

I havent seen my Japanese room mate in a while and I need him to explain some things and I just want to practice my speaking and such.

The first two days in Japan were fun. As mentioned, the first night we had a curry party in the dorms followed by I went with some people to karaoke. I sung O2, and Koigokoro. No one really seemed to know them. Note to self: probably not a good idea to play anime songs at karaoke, but Koigokoro is by B`z so I dunno why they didn:t know them.

There is this one girl who is a senior who actually studied in America for the year. Her name is Nanaho. She is very cheerful and helpful. She says that she wants to be an English teacher so she tries to help the other exchange students as a kind of repayment to all the American students that helped her while she was abroad.

The second night we went to this pub in Sakae as mentioned.

Yesterday after orientations me and some other people stormed the Showa ward office since it is required for us to get this alien registeration card within 90 days. I tell you all this paperwork is annoying but not too bad once you start setting it into motion. It:s just a lot all at once. I registered for the card, and health insurance so the stuff about that should come in a few days/weeks, I hope. After that I and this junior from the US named Nate we went to Osu Kannon.

Osu Kannon is, I think, the big electronic hub around here. There is a lot of shops related to anime and games there. My god, you guys would love it. There were stores with 4 floors of anime stuff. The typical stuff you:d expect too. CD, games, DVD, merchandise like hug pillow covers. lol It:s pretty expensive but I get a reinburment every month for food since I live in the dorms so I might set some a side every month to do fun things like eat out and buy various merchandise. I don:t plan to buy things like magazines and such because I can:t read it so that would be a waste of 900 yen, I think. But yeah, this place was awesome. I want to go again and ask if I can take pictures because it really is a lot of eye candy, but nothing I would actually want to buy since I want to ration my money.

In the one store I was looking at a magazine, and heard about Yukarin:s new single. The next store I went in I bought it. lol I need a Cd player though. I saw a store selling Taiyaki but by the time I was about to leave Osu they were closed. Next time, definitely I will have some. I already had some melon pan actually, and I can see why Shana loves them so much.

Started to work out again, and doing my jogging routine at night. I feel I am going to lose a lot of weight anyway since food is expensive and I:m walking around EVERY Japan is not safe but hey if I am going to get mugged oh well I get mugged.

I think this is a good amount for now. I need to get something for lunch.

Jya ne.

Glad you’re adapting and having fun. Yeah, the life of a foreign student can be hard, but it’s also has its perks.
Lucky that you managed to find an internet connection, that would have been hell otherwise…
