Seto no Hanayome OVAs – Would not mind a second season at this rate

Yay! Nothing like revisting the world of Seto no Hanayome. I watched the TV series early 2008 and really found it quite hilarious despite getting kind of boring comedy wise during the second half of the show. Regardless it was a solid show with some great characters, and some funny and sometimes serious episodes in the mix that made it enjoyable and fun. I have been reluctant in watching the OVAs until both episodes have been released. I have some weird complex that it’s either I watch both at the same time or none. I never like this only watch one and then wait for the next one to come out kind of thing. Hahah… Anyway, I liked them both fairly well. They’re solid. You’d probably only get it if you’ve seen the original TV series, but hell, why would you watch an OVA to a show and not watch the main series first anyway!?
I liked parts one to three, but the fourth part of the second OVA was a little on the horror side with less comedy so I was kinda disinterested. I found myself browsing the Internet, chatting with friends, and just not really paying attention as much during this part, which really shows how bored I must have been. The first OVA though is more funny than the second one, I think. It is just a lot more off the wall, and they introduce Saru’s cute little sister voice by Kaneda Tomoko mostly known for her voice of Chiyo-chan of Azumanga Daioh. Sadly there were definitely a few characters I liked from the TV series that just didn’t get enough screen time in the OVAs like Masa-san, San’s father, Saru and Mikawa. How could they not give more screen time to San’s father? That guy is hilarious.

Do want!
MOE MOE MOE MOE MOE MOE SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MOE. Is really all I can say about the female characters. For some odd reason I found myself really being attracted to all of them even to the point of ignoring personality types. I always liked San since the TV series, and Halko’s voice is really, really good. But I found myself liking most of the female characters in these OVAs. I was especially fond of Shiranui-san in part 3 where they all end up working at a maid cafe. I think I might have a growing fondness for the traditional Japanese girl who is a fierce samurai girl kind of character. It definitely must be the eyes. I think it is the eyes of the female characters in Seto no Hanayome that really draw you in or I might just be making shit up.
At this rate, I most certainly would watch a second season to Seto no Hanayome. I mean, they have to be thinking about it or they wouldn’t have made these OVAs in the first place. They’re probably trying to generate popularity for the series again and trying to see if another season would do well or not. I’d watch it. I liked the characters a lot, and if it is anything along the lines of season one with the jokes, and parody every now and then I would be fine with that.
Afterthought: I usually don’t comment on the fansubs I watch, but what is with the Seto Otaku subs. It’s like they couldn’t make up their minds to call them Sun/San and Luna/Lunar. I mean, come on if you can’t get the characters names right it really makes me question the general quality of the sub. Just had to mention this, but otherwise who cares. They are doing it for free after all.
