What Cross†Channel has a translation patch? – Impressions

…Although just 50% so far. I will say though that this guy has been super fast so I suppose the conclusion 50% will be done in no time.

I honestly had no idea the game was getting translated until I found a post regarding recent visual novel translation on /jp/ which I have been frequenting a little more lately out of loneliness. So, yeah Cross Channel. Ever since I heard about this game during my senior year of high school, I have been interested in it. I don’t know why. I think mostly because at first glance it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a game that makes you think about things and two it was, to be honest, my first eroge experience. My blog is called Cross Channel although not in English like in the game. Also, I use the light blue and white colors that make the Gunjo Gakuen’s uniform for the colors of this blog, and finally my profile picture is of Taichi the main character.

Cross Channel is basically everything that I had really imagined it was from briefly being able to understand the Japanese text. The translation just helps understanding it a whole lot easier. Tachi is a very enigimatc character. He borders on being very stupid and even criminal to having great insight to the nature of humanity. Talking to himself about morals, sins, relationships, and what it would mean to be the only one alive. Things like that are peppered between his playful and perverted words. He is a character with an enormous sex drive and yet he seems to be self conscious about his physical appearance.

Sometimes I worry about this myself…

Being the main character you really see the world through his eyes, and he is a disgusting character and at times I couldn’t tolerate him along with his many tangents that get annoying and nonsensical. He is the character that really makes up the most of this 50% patch. You won’t really learn much about the other characters although there is definitely things hinted on and you really get a feel for who the characters are on the surface like really surface area because people are complex things and they put up fronts. They were all once friends though only to have severed bonds among them all. What happened and why? They are all still very shrouded in mystery but even who or what Taichi really is if he is even something not human.

Fourth wall broken.

Cross Channel might have porn in it but dare I say some of it just seems very necessary. I mean, Taichi is a very perverted and erotic character. Enabling him to have sex is essential to his character and growth as a character. The scenes themselves aren’t important, but even an implied sex is needed in some way because that is the kind of character he is at first.

There are many question I have that I really don’t understand about what is going on, but as I’ve known from playing the Japanese version a lot of the big things are reveal towards the end. Cross Channel is much like Higurashi in regards that you have a character that has to go through many loops to right the things done wrong in a way. Similar to being Reincarnated, Taichi, like Rika, has to first encounter many deaths and hardships before reaching a clear conclusion. Taichi doesn’t realize the looping at first, and albeit Rika didn’t either.

This 50% doesn’t even touch the tip of what Cross Channel has to offer, but I want to recommend people to check what has been released so far since I just found out about it and it has been basically the number one eroge I have been wanting to see in English since forever. Not sure if I wrote some spoilers in those links so read at your own risk?

Also make sure that whichever route you do go to just restart and take the routes you didn’t pick because the game sort of branches off at certain points. You can either force Misato into sex or not. If you have sex you skip the beach scene and then during the first loop you can either get to know Touko or help out at the club which also are branching areas. So, if you want more to check out during you’re initial run when you get to the point the patch ends at you can always do those things as well.
