CHAOS;HEAD, you’re always super stuuuuuuuuuupid

Ugh. Uuuuuuuuuuuuugh. Awful. Awful show this turned out to be. I had some high hopes that it might be interesting because I mean the first episode seemed kinda thriller/suspenseful like and I mean having an unreliable narrator was cool. But really Chaos Head turned into a real shit show.

The first step for a show not going well for me is does it make me care. No, no it didn’t. I hated the main character. He was downright creepy, a pervert, sickly, a total sleazeball. Ugh! The female characters are all your cliche archetype cutouts you’ve seen over 9000 times before. Nothing to see here. Hated them all. Totally didn’t care what was going on to them most of the time.

basically
He has the right idea. I should have just dropped it much earlier as well.

The plot was kinda interesting at first because I mean there were random murders, and what not but then it got kinda Sci Fi like and I lost interest. It wasn’t even really good Sci Fi. By around halfway I totally lost interest completely but just kept hanging on because I wanted to know just what was going on and to see how the show was going to execute it. Totally disappointing and I hated all abundant of technobabble and DERP. The only cool looking things in the entire show were the Di-Swords. Those things looked pretty bad ass.

quality
The animation is high QUALITY amirite?

There is a lot better shows out there that do what Chaos Head tried to do. Honestly just pick up anything by Satoshi Kon and you’re set. What a stupid show and a waste of my time. This was Studio Madhouse? I don’t believe this. On the other hand, I think Chaos Head would make a great drinking game. Every time the word delusion, devil woman, and Di-Sword show up you take a shot. It’s bound to get you wasted.

I was holding out hope that we would be able to see the male lead redeem himself to cast off his idiocy, except the show’s execution fell apart about halfway through during that encounter that screamed silly RPG-esque “BEHOLD MY TRUE FORM” shenanigans. It had potential that was eventually squandered away.

Yeah pretty much. It had potential, but maybe it didn’t have enough episodes since story was too much for just the amount they had given. Granted it all can’t be just attributed to it being only 12 episodes either. I’ve seen a lot better shows that have 12 or 13 episodes that really were handled very well.

Chaos; Head would have been infinitely better had it turned out that the main character actually WAS committing all the murders and the whole conspiracy and girls with semi-imaginary swords business was as much a figment of his imagination as his imaginary friend.

What would have been a good ending too is if everything was a delusion and he just ends up committing suicide at the end like a true hikki would. That guy was such a damn wuss. I hated him, and his voice wasn’t helping either!

I’ve been told the VN is better but seeing how bad the anime is it really doesn’t do a good job to motivate me to try it out otherwise. I’d much rather just read a summary of the story in the game.

I personally sang that song as “You’re always super special, and by special I mean in the Special Olympics kind of way.”

Yeah, I was trying to think of a way to give that impression when making my title for this entry.

I agree with you on most of the things.

Yeah Takumi was pretty…creepy…But I’ve seen A LOT more creepier otaku-characters…And…at least Takumi doesn’t fap…(On-screen)

But hey, that’s how a lot of Otaku’s are. I’m actually surprised they didn’t stop him from just wanting to get back to his ‘base’, and seclude himself from others. Just like an Otaku. The creators really captured the theme for a Otaku-lead character.

    Female characters…Yes…

For the plot, and the episodes. I guess we just have different tastes. Because each episode had me on my toes. I loved the paranoia of Takumi, and everything. Most anime would have the main character be brave, and try to solve the cases, but again, Takumi is a otaku, and he really just wants to stay home, and play games. And that’s what he wanted to do, and he did.

Maybe it’s just me, I don’t watch that many anime that have the same genre as Chaos;Head, so maybe it’s just new to me. I don’t know, but I liked it.

Everything about the anime was good, like I said before, in my opinion. I felt that they really rushed the ending episodes though…and the ending was just so predictable…

It was really just the predictable, ‘town get’s destroyed, and after a big battle the town’s restored, and the anime ends without a epilogue’ type of ending…Lame. They could’ve done that so much better.

Overall, the only thing that really disappointed me was the ending.

For me the paranoia just lost focus and momentum by the time the D-Swords were mentioned. The first few episodes make it seem like it will go somewhere and is really suspenseful. I liked that a lot, but it just lost it after a while and fell flat on its face.

He’s talking about the visual novel. Chaos Head is based on a game.
