tokimemo 4

Oh my god!! You should have seen my face when I saw this article on Canned Dogs. My face literally went from gloomy to lighting up in a second. It was been so long since a new Tokimemo game has been released. I was a freshmen in high school when I played 3, but I didn’t get 2 until my junior year. Haha wow, I totally forgot about that too. Whoa.

I’m sure the gameplay will be remotely similar to the other ones. I just hope if they add the clothing aspect from 3, they improve it or just take it out completely. It was so stupid and the girls either didn’t like what you wore outright canceling the date or didn’t like it but still went on a date with you. I wouldn’t complain if they keep the stat raising system from 3 or go back to the traditional way with more than 4 stats. Both ways are fine with me. Although the one from 3 was a lot easier to manage.

I hope they bring back hobbies from 3. That was real neat and a fun thing to try while passing time in the game. Being able to decorate your room was cool. Also how that factored into things to talk about when you’d go out to eat on dates was a nice touch.

To be honest, I really don’t like how the characters look. They seem to lack the kind of personality that the characters from Tokimeki Memorial 2 have. I mean if you look just at the designs for say Miyuki or Miho, you can kind of get a sense of their personalities just from that. Still, I guess it’s still too early to really say anything.

I’ll probably go for Tsugumi (glasses girl) who is Maki’s friend. Maki (labeled under file 01) is the heroine apparently and NOT your childhood friend. That’s a first. I expect some good drama between Tsugumi and Maki over their love for the main character much like Kotoko and Hikari in Tokimeki Memorial 2, but seeing as how Maki isn’t your childhood friend maybe it won’t go in that direction?

The second girl Yuu Satsuki (File 02) is the student council president of Kirameki High School which was the first school in Tokimeki Memorial 1. Konami has a thing for having them all connect together in small ways. But why she shows up in this game it doesn’t really explain. Or does it take place in Kirameki High School? They changed the uniforms? WHY?

Also it appears the blue/black haired girl in the lab coat is your upperclassmen. I wonder how that is going to work? I mean in the other games it was always that you were the older one or in the same class as the other female characters. So that would mean this character would graduate before you and you still date her? That’s interesting isn’t it? Also she too is wearing a Kirameki High School uniform like Yuu.

I wonder if Konami is trying to mimic Enterbrain’s (Kimikiss and Amagami) style of using more realistic hair colors to make it seem more realistic? I don’t like this very much since Tokimeki Memorial is about having outrageous hair colors like green, pink and purple. Just too many reds and oranges is all I see when I look at the image. Least the characters don’t look ridiculously moe. They look pretty standard.

I wonder what voices we’ll see in this one? In all the previous games I knew basically none of the voice actors except Makoto Kumai and Yukari Tamura in 2. So if they use more obscure voices or at least ones I can’t pick out I’d like that, but that is just a personal preference.

I doubt 4 will be as good as 2 but hell, I really don’t mind since being able to play a new Tokimemo game is great news. I hope they add at least 3 more characters! I look forward to reading further info about this game as it comes out!!

P.S THANK GOD IT’S NOT CEL SHADED!

    Seems like you really like Tokimeki Memorial. ^^;

    I never did finish the anime for that…
    Sigh, I’m missing out on all these games.

      The anime is based on the online game which I have no idea how that did. Yeah you should check them out though. You can easily find a ROM of the first game on the SNES somewhere on the nets.

    So did you emulate TM2 or get a legit copy for your system? I know you can’t burn it (god I’ve tried) due to the freaky copy protection that Konami stamped on it.

    Bottom line: should I just emulate or find a copy on ebay?

      I have a legit copy. You should just get it off ebay. It’s not that expensive. Maybe not a low enough price for how old it is but it’s not outrageously expensive at least.
